The Skills2Earn Foundation, a registered non-profit organisation (NPC) and Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), has partnered with HP South Africa to provide free online skills development opportunities aimed at empowering unemployed, semi-skilled, and vulnerable individuals across the country.
The initiative, established through a formal agreement signed in March 2026, seeks to bridge the skills gap and improve employability by making high-quality digital education more accessible to South Africans who may otherwise struggle to access training opportunities.
According to the Foundation, the programme is specifically designed to uplift communities through free online learning, entrepreneurship education, digital literacy, financial management, communication skills, and personal development training.

What is the Skills to Earn Foundation?
The Skills2Earn Foundation is a registered non-profit company focused on skills development and socio-economic upliftment. The organisation works with unemployed and vulnerable groups by offering accessible training opportunities that can help improve livelihoods, increase employability, and encourage entrepreneurship.
As a recognised Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), the Foundation is also able to issue tax exemption certificates to institutions and organisations, creating opportunities for partnerships and sponsorships that further community development.

Free HP Online Courses Available
Through the partnership with HP South Africa, participants now have access to a robust digital learning platform featuring:
- Six learning modules
- 38 free online courses
- Downloadable HP certificates upon completion
- Flexible online and offline learning options
One of the standout features of the programme is its accessibility. Individuals who may not have continuous internet access can visit a Wi-Fi-enabled environment, log into the platform, download course content, and continue learning offline at home.
This approach is particularly important for South Africans facing data costs and connectivity challenges, ensuring that lack of internet access does not become a barrier to education.
Skills Development for the Digital Economy
The Foundation says the initiative goes beyond traditional training by preparing participants for today’s rapidly evolving economy.
Future contact sessions are also planned, where participants will be able to attend venue-based learning experiences covering topics such as:
- Entrepreneurship training
- Financial management
- Marketing skills
- Communication skills
- Personal development
- Business readiness programmes
These sessions may either be sponsored through corporate partnerships or offered at minimal cost to ensure affordability and accessibility.

Building Opportunities Through Partnerships
The collaboration between Skills to Earn Foundation and HP South Africa is also intended to create long-term opportunities for communities.
By increasing registrations and engagement on the HP learning platform, the Foundation hopes to strengthen its ability to negotiate additional support in future, including resources such as used laptops and computer equipment that could be utilised for practical digital and computer literacy training.
Growing Impact Across South Africa
Since officially signing the partnership in March 2026, the initiative has already attracted significant interest, with approximately 150 people registered within the first few months.
The Foundation’s target is ambitious but impactful: to reach between 2,000 and 5,000 learners by the end of 2026, helping thousands of South Africans gain valuable knowledge, practical skills, and recognised certificates that can improve employment prospects and entrepreneurial success.

How Communities Can Support the Initiative
The Skills to Earn Foundation is calling on community leaders, influencers, businesses, and digital creators to help amplify awareness by sharing programme registration links and QR codes on social media and community platforms.
The goal is simple: to ensure that as many vulnerable South Africans as possible gain access to free, quality education and training opportunities that can positively transform lives.
