Former Real Housewives of Pretoria personality Peet Viljoen is reportedly negotiating a possible plea agreement with prosecutors as he faces serious criminal charges linked to an alleged R27 million property fraud scheme.
Viljoen, a disbarred former lawyer who has been detained at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre in Pretoria since his bail application was refused in August 2026, is said to be in active discussions with the State.
Prosecutors have confirmed that negotiations are underway, although no agreement has been finalised.
His case was postponed to 3 November 2026 to allow the discussions to continue, placing the possibility of a negotiated resolution at the centre of the latest developments.
R27 Million Property Allegations at the Centre of the Case
Viljoen faces multiple charges, including fraud, theft, forgery, uttering and corruption.
The allegations relate to properties that were reportedly sold unlawfully over a period stretching back to 2010.
The municipal land involved in the matter is estimated to be worth approximately R27 million.
The case centres on allegations of fraudulent property transactions and the unlawful disposal of municipal land. However, the charges remain allegations until determined by a court.
Viljoen’s attempt to secure release on bail was unsuccessful. His subsequent appeal against the bail decision was also dismissed, leaving him in custody while the criminal proceedings continue.
Plea Negotiations Could Change the Course of Proceedings
The confirmation that Viljoen is discussing a possible plea agreement with prosecutors introduces a new development in the lengthy legal battle.
A plea agreement may provide a negotiated route towards resolving criminal charges, depending on the terms accepted by the parties and the applicable legal process.
However, the State has not announced that an agreement has been reached, and the details of any proposed arrangement have not been disclosed.
For now, Viljoen remains in custody as negotiations continue.
His next court appearance, scheduled for 3 November 2026, is expected to provide an opportunity for an update on the discussions.
Defence Raises Allegations of Assault Inside Prison
The property case has also been accompanied by a separate dispute involving allegations of an assault inside Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre.
Viljoen’s legal representatives have raised concerns about an alleged incident in which he was reportedly assaulted while in custody.
His defence team has further claimed that he did not receive prompt medical attention following the incident.
Viljoen also spoke to members of the media and confirmed that an assault had allegedly taken place.
However, the Department of Correctional Services disputed the account, stating that no such incident had been reported through its official channels.
The conflicting statements have left the allegations unresolved, with no independent findings provided in the information available.
Former Reality Television Personality Faces Uncertain Legal Future
Viljoen previously attracted public attention through his appearance on Real Housewives of Pretoria. His current legal difficulties have now placed him in the spotlight for an entirely different reason.
With fraud, theft, forgery, uttering and corruption charges hanging over him, the reported plea negotiations could become a significant turning point in the case.
Nevertheless, no final agreement has been confirmed, and the court proceedings remain ongoing.
The next developments will depend on whether prosecutors and the defence reach an acceptable arrangement and what position is ultimately placed before the court.
