Seven people have been arrested after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death during a violent altercation at a skate park in Northampton.
The attack, which also left a teenage boy fighting for his life, has shocked the local community as police continue a fast-moving investigation.
Fatal Attack at Briar Hill Skate Park
Emergency services were called to Briar Hill Skate Park at around 3:45pm on Wednesday following reports that two people had been stabbed after an altercation.
A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene, while a teenage boy was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in critical condition.
Seven Arrested Including Four Teenagers
Police confirmed that seven suspects are now in custody, although no charges have yet been laid.
Four teenage boys aged 17, 16, 15 and 14 have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 35-year-old man, a 56-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All suspects are from Northampton.
Police Investigation Ongoing
The skate park remains sealed off with a police cordon as forensic teams continue their work. Nearby roads have been closed and members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.
Senior Investigating Officer Torie Harrison described the incident as tragic and extended condolences to the families affected.
“This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life, and a teenage boy is in a critical condition. Our thoughts are firmly with both their families at this difficult time,” she said.
She added that high-visibility patrols will continue in the area to reassure residents while detectives work to establish what happened.
Appeal for Witnesses
Police say arrests were made quickly but investigations are continuing at pace. Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage to come forward.
Authorities say incidents of this nature can cause concern in the community, but dedicated teams are working to gather evidence and determine the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
