Young Thug is putting on for his city once again — this time with a cause. The Grammy-winning Atlanta rapper announced plans to host a “Hometown Hero” benefit concert at State Farm Arena on December 16, a performance that will celebrate the release of his forthcoming album, Uy Scuti.
The project, which marks Thug’s fourth studio album, features an impressive roster of collaborators, including Cardi B, 21 Savage, Travis Scott, Future, Ken Carson, Quavo, Sexyy Red, Lil Baby, and Mariah the Scientist.
Despite their musical collaboration on the track “Invest In You,” Thug and Mariah recently made headlines for their breakup, which the rapper addressed with his trademark bluntness.
Young Thug Opens Up About His Breakup
During a recent appearance on the Adin Ross podcast, Thug confirmed the split, joking:
“I got broke up, n***a,” he said, laughing after Ross assumed they were still together. “I got a girl. She probably don’t got a boyfriend, but I got a girl.”
The lighthearted tone didn’t mask the sincerity that followed. Shortly after, the “Stoner” artist took to social media to issue a public apology to Mariah the Scientist after a leaked jailhouse call revealed he had been unfaithful.
In the call, Young Thug admitted that another woman had shared photos from inside his Atlanta condo. Initially downplaying the incident, he later confessed, “Wasn’t a minute ago, it was the day before I got locked up.”
Thugger’s Public Apology
Following the controversy, Thug posted a heartfelt message to Mariah on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“U deserved better from me. Thank you for everything and I will do anything to make this work. U showed me what love is and I hope I haven’t lost u forever. Everybody leave her out of this please — she’s an innocent girl and feels bad about all of this. Please give her peace.”
The couple had reportedly been together for four years before their split.
A Return with Purpose
Despite personal turbulence, Young Thug appears focused on channeling his energy into music and community impact. The upcoming “Hometown Hero” concert will mark his first major live event in Atlanta since his incarceration and will reportedly raise funds for youth programs and local families in need — a move that underscores his effort to reconnect with fans and his hometown roots.
For Thug, Uy Scuti represents more than just another album release; it’s a statement of resilience, creativity, and redemption. And for Atlanta, it’s a chance to celebrate one of its most influential sons returning home — both musically and personally.
