The Africa Coastal Maritime and Marine Tourism Trade Market 2025 is proud to welcome Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille for an official visit and walkabout during the exhibition on April 15–16 at the Tramways Building in Gqeberha.
Minister De Lille’s presence highlights national government’s commitment to positioning coastal and marine tourism as a key driver of South Africa’s blue economy, sustainable job creation, and inclusive tourism development.
As part of her visit, Minister de Lille will tour the expo floor to engage with industry exhibitors, local entrepreneurs, youth volunteers, and stakeholders representing various parts of South Africa’s thriving coastal tourism landscape. The walkabout is expected to underscore the department’s interest in empowering grassroots tourism players, advancing climate-resilient tourism strategies, and unlocking coastal investment opportunities.
Joining her at the event are:
- Deputy Minister of Tourism, Hon. Makhotso “Maggie” Sotyu, who will deliver a keynote address focused on transformative tourism, inclusive growth, and the role of government in shaping an equitable marine tourism future.
- Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Reform, Hon. Rosemary Nokuzola Capa, who will also speak at the conference, focusing on the intersection of agriculture, rural economies, and coastal tourism.
This powerful lineup of leadership reflects the multi-sectoral nature of the event — bridging tourism, environmental stewardship, agriculture, and economic development.
“Having Minister de Lille and both Deputy Ministers present is not just an honour — it’s a signal that marine tourism is no longer on the sidelines. It’s at the centre of economic opportunity and government attention,” said members of the event organizing committee Lusanda Fibi and Itumeleng Magongoa.
The Africa Coastal Marine Tourism platform is a national initiative dedicated to unlocking the value of Africa’s coastal and maritime tourism sector through public-private partnerships, innovation, and strategic investment.
With partners like SANTACO, South African Airways, Radisson Blu, SAIMI, Leonora Group, Peri Expo, ConfSpot, and many more, and support from multiple government departments, the event promises to be one of the most influential tourism trade platforms in the country.
