Jamie Foxx’s life changed dramatically after a health scare in April 2023. But now, the Oscar-winning actor is back, feeling more alive than ever. The comedian recently took the stage for the first time since the incident, sharing his story in an intimate one-man show titled One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx. The actor, now 56, reflected on his journey, describing his emotions as nothing but “pure joy.”
On Monday, October 14, Foxx took to Instagram to share some heartfelt thoughts following his performance in Atlanta. He posted snapshots from his October 3, 4, and 5 shows, expressing gratitude to the audience. He wrote, “God is good…. As I post these pictures, my heart and my soul is filled with nothing but pure joy… I had an opportunity to tell my side of the story, and there was no better place than Atlanta, Georgia.”
In his emotional post, Foxx, known for roles in films like Django Unchained and his early days on In Living Color, revealed how much he appreciated the Atlanta crowd. He said, “I haven’t been on stage in 18 years, but I needed the stage, and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love, and that’s what you were.”
Foxx made it clear that his show wasn’t a comedy special, explaining, “When people ask me if this is a stand-up comedy show, I say, ‘No, it’s an artistic explanation.’” He then opened up about how his health scare affected him, expressing deep gratitude for the medical team at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, who helped him recover. “Of something that went terribly wrong,” he wrote, “but thanks to the great people in Atlanta, especially Piedmont Hospital, you enabled me to come back and be on stage and do what I love to do the most.”
While Foxx hasn’t disclosed all the details of his health scare, he shared earlier this year that it all started with a severe headache before he was “gone for 20 days.” The incident left him with no memory of that period, and though details remain scarce, his return to the stage is a testament to his resilience and determination.
