Road users in the North West Province are being urged to exercise extreme caution as heavy rains have left several major routes flooded and partially impassable.
According to the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, multiple key roads have been affected, including the R24 from Rustenburg to Magaliesburg, the N12 between Klerksdorp and Stilfontein, and the N18 outside Mahikeng towards Vryburg near Uplands.
While no major incidents have been reported at this stage, motorists are advised to drive carefully on the R30 between Klerksdorp and Ventersdorp, as well as between Derby and Ventersdorp, where wet conditions remain a concern.
Other roads previously impacted by flooding include the R503 near Hartbeesfontein, the N4 near Dinokana, the N14 between Sannieshof and Delareyville, and the R52 between Koster and Lichtenburg, as well as the stretch between Koster and Rustenburg.
Traffic officers have been deployed across the province to assist motorists navigating affected areas. On severely impacted routes, such as the N18 outside Mahikeng, a stop-and-go system has been implemented to manage traffic safely.
