Rain Queen Masalanabo Modjadji VII — a name synonymous with mystical power, rainmaking heritage, and the enduring strength of African royalty — will be among the key cultural leaders participating in the first-ever Kgoshi Maafeefee Foundation and Bapedi Space Roundtable. This powerful event will take place on 27 September 2025 at Thaba Moshate Casino, Burgersfort, in the heart of Limpopo Province.
With the theme “Western Systems vs Our African Systems,” the roundtable aims to open a dynamic and meaningful dialogue on reclaiming African values and governance traditions. It also features the prestigious Kgoshi Mampuru I Memorial Lecture, honoring the founding figure of the Bapedi Kingdom.

As the seventh reigning Rain Queen of the Balobedu people, Queen Masalanabo Modjadji VII carries forward a centuries-old lineage of matriarchal leadership. At just 20 years old, she has already captured national and global attention as a symbol of sacred feminine power, known for her ceremonial role in rainmaking — a spiritual and cultural legacy that dates back to the 16th century.
Her attendance is more than symbolic. It represents a reaffirmation of the importance of indigenous leadership in shaping the future of African governance, cultural sustainability, and identity. The Queen is expected to share words of encouragement rooted in the wisdom of her forebears — a reminder that Africa’s strength lies in its roots.
This one-day cultural gathering will also host a prestigious lineup of speakers including:
- Proff Mathole Motshekga – keynote speaker on African systems
- Advocate Rabi Mashabela – on African law and justice
- Minister Mamoloko Kubayi – input from the Department of Justice
- MEC Jerry Maseko – on cultural preservation
Mayors, MECs, traditional leaders, artists, and youth voices from across the country are invited, aiming to bridge traditional wisdom with contemporary systems.
In addition to robust panel discussions and cultural exchange, attendees can look forward to live entertainment, networking opportunities, and a shared vision for preserving the spiritual and cultural DNA of Africa.
As Queen Masalanabo Modjadji VII steps into this modern chapter, she does so with the blessings of her ancestors, standing tall as a young but revered torchbearer of Africa’s royal heritage.
