A leading defence expert has warned that Russia could retaliate significantly after the death of a senior general responsible for nuclear protection forces in Moscow on December 17. Igor Kirillov, a high-ranking official, was killed outside an apartment building on Ryazansky Prospekt, alongside his assistant, according to Russian investigative sources.
This tragic incident comes just a day after Ukrainian prosecutors charged Kirillov with the use of banned chemical weapons during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Tobias Ellwood, a former UK Defence Minister and army reservist, spoke to Sky News, stating, “This will be an embarrassment for Putin. He cannot hide this from the Russian people. I would expect a major retaliation from Russia.”
