TS Galaxy has officially confirmed the departure of highly-rated defender Samukelo Kabini in what is now a record sale for the club. The Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs, had reportedly shown interest in Kabini, but Norwegian top-flight club Molde FK has secured his signature in a deal worth R15 million.
Club boss Tim Sukazi expressed his excitement over the historic transfer, emphasizing that TS Galaxy is committed to sending more players to European leagues rather than entertaining local transfer speculation.
Sukazi’s Vision for TS Galaxy
Sukazi, speaking to SABC Sport, stated that the club’s philosophy is to develop players for top-tier leagues and that the transfer of Kabini is only the beginning.
“Yes, Samukelo Kabini has signed for Norwegian topflight club Molde FK, who have won consecutive league titles and are known to be playing in the UEFA Champions League. Indeed, it’s a transfer fee in Euros for starters, and we have never done a transfer of this nature before. So, it becomes a record transfer,” said Sukazi.
More TS Galaxy Stars Could Follow
Sukazi further revealed that TS Galaxy is open to selling its top talents, including in-form striker Dženan Zajmović, provided the right offers come in. He emphasized that his club aims to push players to bigger leagues, rather than keeping them in the local scene.
“We are now taking on bigger leagues by taking the players straight to Europe. One of the mandates for our technical team is to produce players for the country. This is the club we have become,” he added.
What This Means for South African Football
Kabini’s transfer marks a significant step for South African football, as more PSL players look to make a name for themselves in competitive European leagues. With Molde FK’s consistent presence in the UEFA Champions League, this move could open doors for more South African talent to be recognized on the global stage.
