The Gauteng Liquor Board has suspended Zanzou Nightclub’s liquor license following public outrage over viral videos showing the alleged torture and assault of patrons. This move comes as police launch a full-scale investigation into the club’s activities.
According to eNCA, the nightclub’s suspension is part of a broader crackdown following criminal complaints filed by three victims who reported assault, compelled rape, kidnapping, and crimen injuria.
Police Investigations and Arrests
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with authorities searching for eight foreign nationals linked to the shocking events. Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni has urged more victims to come forward.
Additionally, Pablo, a former Zanzou bouncer, who leaked the disturbing videos, has claimed to possess over 45 more clips exposing similar abuse at the nightclub. He has reportedly received death threats for exposing the club’s activities.

Meanwhile, the MK Party’s student movement has taken action by preventing Zanzou’s stock and equipment from being removed. A former shareholder of the club has publicly distanced himself, stating that he cut ties in 2021 after raising concerns over labor rights violations.
