Grammy Award-winning artist T-Pain received a hometown tribute from Tallahassee, Florida, as the city honored him with a key to the city and a street renamed in his honor. The celebrations, held on Sunday, 10 November, were led by Mayor John Dailey, who praised the artist for his musical achievements and enduring impact on the community.
“T-Pain Lane” Officially Unveiled
During the ceremony at the Walker Ford Community Center, city officials revealed the newly named “T-Pain Lane,” replacing Pasco Street. Located just a block from Florida A&M University, the street is a significant landmark that reflects T-Pain’s local roots.
The proposal to rename the street was first introduced in August and approved in September, culminating in Sunday’s event, which marked the city’s pride in one of its most prominent cultural figures.
Mayor John Dailey shared his excitement on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“Today, I had the incredible honor of presenting @TPain with the Key to the City in recognition of his contributions to music and his ongoing commitment to this community. As a hometown hero, T-Pain has inspired countless fans and artists worldwide, and we’re proud to call him one of our own.”
Celebrations Fit for a Star
In addition to receiving the key and street renaming, T-Pain took part in Tallahassee’s Leon County bicentennial festivities. He performed live at The Adderley Amphitheater in Cascades Park, capping off the celebration in style.
