Snoop Dogg Crowns Kendrick Lamar ‘King of the West,’ Again

West Coast hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg reaffirms Kendrick Lamar’s status as the ‘King of the West’ following Lamar’s Juneteenth “The Pop Out—Ken & Friends” event, celebrating unity and creativity in Los Angeles.

Legendary hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg has once again crowned Kendrick Lamar as the ‘King of the West.’ The commendation came after Lamar’s recent Juneteenth event, “The Pop Out—Ken & Friends,” held in Los Angeles. The concert, which marked a significant cultural moment, brought together a diverse group of rappers, up-and-coming artists from the West Coast, dancers, creatives, and even members of the Blood and Crip organizations, showcasing unity and peace.

Snoop, who was in Canada at the time, made sure to send his accolades through a heartfelt video clip. He praised Lamar for orchestrating such a unifying event, emphasizing the importance of peace and love in the community. “Sending a big shoutout to K.Dot and all the homies from the West that stood together, unified, organized, in peace [and] love,” Snoop stated. He added, “That was beautiful, that was fun to watch. Beautiful to see all of my peoples coming together. And, um, K.Dot… you are the king of the west. That’s the kind of s—t kings do: we unite. We bring our peoples together.”

This isn’t the first time Snoop Dogg has lauded Kendrick Lamar. Previously, on the Impulsive podcast with Logan Paul, Snoop had referred to Lamar as the reigning king of California’s music scene. Reflecting on his own illustrious career, Snoop remarked, “I did my thing with it for 20-something years as far as being the king of the West Coast, gave the crown to Kendrick Lamar — I didn’t give it to him; actually, he took it, but I had to take it off my head and give it to him. And he’s been running wild with it and the music that’s been coming out from the West has been very, very good.”

Snoop Dogg’s continuous praise underscores the profound impact Kendrick Lamar has had on the West Coast hip-hop scene. Lamar’s ability to bring together a community, foster unity, and produce exceptional music highlights why he holds the revered title of ‘King of the West.’
