R&B singer Jaheim Hoagland, best known for his 2000s hit “Put That Woman First,” is once again facing serious animal cruelty allegations—this time in Atlanta, Georgia.
On May 1, the artist was arrested and charged with six counts of animal cruelty after authorities discovered six dogs—including four pit bull terriers, a French bulldog, and a hound mix—living in unsanitary conditions on his Atlanta property. According to WSBTV, police claim the animals were deprived of clean water, forced to endure poor ventilation, and housed in an unsafe environment.
Repeat Offender?
This latest arrest mirrors a previous incident from 2021, when Jaheim was arrested in Hillsborough, New Jersey, under similar circumstances. In that case, police found 15 dogs in deplorable conditions—one of which was in such critical health it had to be euthanized. Jaheim faced third-degree animal cruelty charges and failure to provide necessary care at the time.
The surviving animals from the 2021 case, which included pit bull mixes, American Staffordshire terriers, and a boxer mix, were rescued and later adopted.
Released but Not Cleared
Jaheim was released from custody the following day after his recent arrest, but no court dates have been announced yet in connection with the new charges.
Despite his legal troubles, the New Jersey native has maintained a presence in the music industry, most recently appearing alongside Keyshia Cole, Trey Songz, and K. Michelle on the Love Hard Tour in 2024.
Public and Legal Fallout
While fans await more details about the latest charges, animal welfare advocates have already raised concerns about Jaheim’s repeated violations. The case is also likely to revive public discussion about celebrity accountability and animal rights enforcement.
As legal proceedings unfold, Jaheim could face significant penalties if found guilty—especially considering his prior history.
