Fashion entrepreneur and reality television star Kimora Lee Simmons has publicly challenged claims made by her former husband, Russell Simmons, accusing him of misrepresenting his financial support for their family.
The dispute played out on social media after Russell Simmons, who currently lives in Bali, posted on Threads that he had paid “50,000 a month for 20 years” in family support and alleged that Kimora had taken company stock belonging to him.
Kimora responded forcefully in a series of Instagram stories, dismissing his claims and questioning why he was making them from overseas.
“My ‘girls’ are grown women,” she wrote. “You know these are lies. Why are you typing from thousands of miles away in a non-extradition country? Go negotiate and answer your accusers.”
Public Dispute Reignites Long-Running Tensions
The exchange follows a recent interview Kimora gave to People, where she described herself as the primary parent to her children and said she does not have close relationships with their fathers.
“Usually I would say that I co-parent okay, but the kids are with me full-time,” she said. “My life doesn’t ever revolve around a guy, ever.”
Kimora shares two daughters, Ming Lee, 25, and Aoki Lee, with Russell Simmons. She also has a 16-year-old son, Kenzo, with actor Djimon Hounsou, a 10-year-old son, Wolfe, with former investment banker Tim Leissner, and an adopted son, Gary, who is also 16.
Disputed Claims Over Finances and Assets
In his Threads post, Russell Simmons further alleged that Kimora took company stock during a dispute in 2021 and continued to use those assets while he was living abroad. Kimora has denied these claims, stating that his version of events is inaccurate.
The financial disagreement adds another layer to an already strained relationship that has remained largely private until now.
Allegations Continue to Cast a Shadow
Russell Simmons has been accused by multiple women of rape and sexual misconduct over the past several years. He has repeatedly denied all allegations. His decision to reside outside the United States has drawn criticism from some of his accusers and commentators, although he maintains his innocence.
Kimora’s remarks urging him to “answer your accusers” have reignited public attention on these unresolved allegations, even as the current dispute centres on family support and finances.
A Very Public Fallout
The back-and-forth has unfolded across Instagram and Threads, drawing significant public attention and commentary. While both parties continue to dispute each other’s claims, the exchange underscores how personal and legal conflicts involving high-profile figures increasingly play out in the public eye.
For now, neither side appears inclined to step back, with the dispute highlighting unresolved tensions that extend well beyond social media posts.
