This marks Tems’ second visit to South Africa, following her exclusive performance in 2022. Her Born In The Wild tour celebrates the release of her debut album of the same name, which features 18 tracks, including hits like Me & U, Love Me JeJe, and Burning. The album also boasts high-profile collaborations with global stars J. Cole and Asake.
A Long-Awaited Debut
Initially planned for a 2023 release, Born In The Wild dropped in June 2024 after unexpected delays. The album has been lauded by critics and fans alike, cementing Tems’ reputation as a leading figure in the global music scene. In an interview with Apple Music 1’s Ebro Darden, Tems opened up about the challenges she faced during the album’s creation, including burnout. “We’ve been working on that music for so long. At some point, I thought, ‘Am I ever going to leave the studio?’” she revealed. Despite these hurdles, Tems has emerged stronger and more inspired.
Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “It feels good to finally be here. Now, I can go back to the studio without that weight hanging over me.”
