Prime Video has given fans their first glimpse of what lies ahead in season two of Cross, releasing the official trailer and key artwork for the crime thriller led by Aldis Hodge.
The new season of the Washington, D.C.–based series is scheduled to premiere on 11 February 2026. Viewers will be able to watch the first three episodes at launch, with subsequent episodes released weekly until the season finale on 18 March 2026.
Inspired by characters created by bestselling author James Patterson, Cross stars Hodge as Alex Cross, a highly skilled homicide detective and forensic psychologist whose greatest strength lies in his ability to think like the criminals he hunts. Hodge also serves as an executive producer on the series.
Created by showrunner and executive producer Ben Watkins, the first season proved to be a major success for Prime Video. The platform reported that Cross attracted more than 40 million viewers worldwide within its first 20 days, establishing it as one of the service’s standout crime dramas.
Season two is set to raise the stakes significantly, moving the story into darker and more dangerous territory. The plot is triggered when billionaire business figure Lance Durand, played by Matthew Lillard, contacts the FBI after receiving a credible death threat. What initially appears to be a security concern soon spirals into a far more complex and personal case.
The threat becomes linked to the murder of a wealthy playboy, drawing Alex Cross into a joint investigation with FBI Agent Kayla Craig, portrayed by Alona Tal. As the investigation unfolds, the killer leaves behind a series of deliberately staged clues, pushing the team into a psychological battle that tests both their instincts and resilience.
Complicating matters further is the involvement of Cross’ longtime partner and closest friend, John Sampson, played by Isaiah Mustafa. Sampson finds himself entangled in an unexpected connection that could alter the direction of the case and shift the balance of power in unpredictable ways.
The newly released trailer hints at a season marked by moral ambiguity, high-profile suspects and personal consequences for the characters at its centre. With powerful figures under threat and a killer operating with precision, season two appears poised to expand the scope of the series while deepening its emotional core.
As Prime Video continues to invest heavily in original crime dramas, Cross stands out for its blend of psychological depth, procedural tension and character-driven storytelling. With a strong first season behind it and a more ambitious narrative ahead, the series is positioning itself as one of the platform’s key releases for early 2026.
