Limpopo Rapper Shebeshxt Faces Mounting Legal and Personal Challenges Amidst Tragic Loss

Limpopo rapper Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke grapples with legal issues and personal grief following the passing of his daughter, as he prepares to face court for multiple charges.

Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke, a well-known rapper from Limpopo, finds himself amidst a storm of legal troubles and personal sorrow following the tragic passing of his daughter. According to Sunday World, Chauke is scheduled to appear in court in July for an incident dating back to 2022, adding to his mounting challenges.

Chauke’s court appearance at the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court is slated for July 11, 2024. Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, spokesperson for Limpopo’s National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), confirmed that Chauke is currently out on bail and will face trial for an alleged stabbing incident that took place in Lebowakgomo. Malabi-Dzhangi detailed, “The matter is set down for plea and trial for 11 July 2024 at the Lebowakgomo regional court D.”

The rapper’s legal woes are extensive. As reported by the Limpopo Chronicle in August 2023, Chauke was granted bail after being arrested in April 2023. His charges include assault, attempted murder, and the discharge of a firearm. The April incident involved Chauke allegedly firing four shots in the air at a family home in Ga-Mamaola Village, Limpopo, while on bail for a previous assault charge.

The NPA previously noted, “On the second incident (10 April 2023) the accused discharged a firearm at another family residence when he went to look for a member of that family. When he was informed that the person he was looking for was not there, he discharged his firearm four times upwards.”

Adding to his legal troubles, Chauke is dealing with profound personal grief. He recently buried his daughter, Onthatile Chuene, who tragically passed away on June 8 following a car crash on the R37 road near Smelters Mine in Limpopo. The funeral took place on June 22 in Lebowakgomo, Zone A.

Chauke’s lawyer, Lot Ramusi, confirmed to The South African that special arrangements were made for Chauke to attend his daughter’s funeral. Due to injuries sustained in the car crash, including a broken leg, abdominal injuries, and head injuries, Chauke required multiple surgeries and was released from the hospital temporarily for the funeral. He is expected to return to the hospital post-ceremony.

The rapper’s mother has disclosed the extent of his injuries, highlighting the severity of the crash and the physical recovery that Chauke faces ahead. Despite his medical and legal battles, the loss of his daughter adds an emotional weight that is immeasurable.

This series of events casts a shadow over Shebeshxt’s life, as he navigates through both his legal predicaments and the heart-wrenching grief of losing a child. The coming months will be critical for Chauke as he faces the court for his legal charges while recovering from his injuries and mourning his daughter.
