Lil Wayne’s Vintage Lyric Notebook Hits the Market for $5 Million After Legal Battle

A judge recently ruled in favor of a man who discovered Lil Wayne’s old lyric notebook, allowing it to hit the market for 5 million USD. The notebook, dating back to the rapper’s Hot Boys days, was at the center of a lengthy legal dispute that ended with a “finder’s keepers” defense. Lil Wayne, the iconic rapper known for his groundbreaking contributions to hip-hop, is making headlines once again, but this time it’s not for his music. A vintage lyric notebook, once belonging to the Grammy Award-winning artist, is now available for purchase with an astonishing 5 million USD price tag. The notebook, which hails from Wayne’s early days with the Hot Boys in the 1990s, is a relic of rap history—but it comes with a story almost as legendary as the artist himself.

The origins of this notebook trace back to a man who claimed to have found it in a car that was previously owned by Cash Money Records. The man turned the notebook over to the online memorabilia site Moments In Time, which listed it for auction in 2019 with a starting bid of 250,000 USD. However, the sale was abruptly halted when Lil Wayne, known for hits like “Misunderstood,” issued a cease and desist, demanding the notebook’s immediate return.

What followed was a five-year legal battle that kept fans and legal observers alike on the edge of their seats. The dispute was finally settled in February of this year when Judge Kern A. Reese of the Civil District Court of Orleans Parish in Louisiana ruled in favor of the man who found the notebook. The judge upheld the old playground adage of “finder’s keepers,” granting the man full ownership of the valuable piece of memorabilia.

The court’s decision has sparked a wide range of reactions on social media. While some fans expressed doubt that the notebook would ever sell at such a high price, others couldn’t help but chuckle at the legal precedent set by the case. One social media user humorously remarked, “Your honor, I will use the ‘nana nana boo boo’ defense because finder’s keepers.” Another added, “Never leave your belongings behind. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

With the legal hurdles now cleared, the notebook is officially on the market, priced at a whopping 5 million USD. Whether it finds a buyer remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: this is a piece of hip-hop history that comes with a story as compelling as the lyrics it holds.
