A 15-year-old boy has been sentenced to 43 years in prison for the murder and robbery of a school principal in KwaZulu-Natal. The Nongoma Regional Court handed down the sentence on November 21, following the brutal killing of Prince Bhekintinta High School principal, Alpheus Mphumuzeni Ntuli, 61, in April last year.
Shocking Crime Unfolds
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, revealed that Ntuli was reported missing on April 22, 2023. While officers were en route to the local police station, they noticed Ntuli’s vehicle on Mkhuze Road. When they approached, the suspect tried to escape but abandoned the car and fled on foot.
Ntuli’s lifeless body was later discovered near a riverbank under a bridge in the Odwaleni area, bearing visible wounds and bruises.
Teen Found With Stolen Firearm
Police tracked the teenager to his home in kwaSnqandi, Toyisa, where he was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition stolen from his grandfather. The teen was arrested and made several court appearances before eventually pleading guilty to multiple charges, including murder, theft of a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

The court’s sentence reflects the severity of the crime, with the teen set to serve 43 years behind bars. This case has left the community shaken and serves as a stark reminder of the tragic consequences of violence.
