A fast-food dispute over gravy escalated into a shocking act of violence in North Las Vegas, leaving a Kentucky Fried Chicken employee stabbed multiple times and two men facing serious criminal charges, police have confirmed.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, the incident occurred on 27 December at a KFC located at the corner of Craig Road and Camino Al Norte.
Two Men Arrested on Attempted Murder Charges
Police identified the suspects as James Carter (48) and Gerald Carter (32), who were arrested and charged with attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm, KSNV reported.
Officers responded to the restaurant following reports that a customer had stabbed an employee. Four people were detained at the scene, and authorities recovered a large folding knife from Gerald Carter’s pocket.
The injured worker was rushed to University Medical Center for treatment. Their current condition has not been publicly disclosed.

Dispute Allegedly Began Over Gravy
According to an arrest report reviewed by KSNV, the altercation stemmed from dissatisfaction with gravy included in Gerald Carter’s order.
Police say Carter allegedly returned to the restaurant three separate times, claiming the employee had insulted and disrespected him. On the final visit, he reportedly returned with his uncle, James Carter.
Witnesses told police the situation quickly escalated once the two men entered the restaurant again.
Surveillance Footage Shows Attack Behind Counter
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage which allegedly shows both men going behind the counter.
The footage appears to show Gerald Carter stabbing the employee multiple times, while James Carter held the worker in a chokehold for several seconds, according to police.
Gerald Carter later told investigators that while a fight occurred, he claimed his knife never left his pocket and insisted the employee had verbally insulted him.
Bail Set, Ankle Monitors Ordered
Both men were booked into the Clark County Detention Center. Gerald Carter’s bail was set at $100,000, while James Carter’s bail was set at $10,000.
During their initial court appearance, North Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Jonathan Cooper ruled that if released, both suspects must wear ankle monitors, KLAS reported.
Their next court appearance is scheduled for 14 January at 9am, according to online court records.
A Disturbing Reminder of Retail Violence
The incident has reignited concern over violence against service workers, particularly in fast-food and retail environments, where disputes over minor issues can sometimes escalate with devastating consequences.
Authorities continue to investigate the case.
