Kaizer Chiefs Set to Sign Bradley Cross for R3 Million

In a significant move that could bolster their defensive lineup, Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly close to signing utility defender Bradley Cross from Golden Arrows for a fee of R3 million. According to SABC Sport, Amakhosi have activated Cross’ buyout clause, sealing a deal that could see the young defender don the famous black and gold jersey soon.

Bradley Cross has made a name for himself in the PSL, first with Maritzburg United and more recently with Golden Arrows, showcasing his versatility and solid performances. His impressive form even caught the attention of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, hinting at the potential for future national team call-ups.

The move to Kaizer Chiefs, one of South Africa’s most iconic football clubs, could provide Cross with the platform to further elevate his career. However, he faces stiff competition for a spot in the starting lineup. Chiefs have already strengthened their defensive ranks by signing left-backs Rushwin Dortley and Bongani Sam. While Cross primarily plays as a left-back, his ability to slot in as a left centre-back might give him an edge over his new teammates.

The report also reveals that this move comes after Chiefs’ head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, gave the green light for the signing. Despite securing Bongani Sam from Orlando Pirates in July, the Soweto giants have remained active in the transfer market, determined to fortify their squad ahead of the new season. With the deal now in the final stages, Bradley Cross is expected to join Chiefs at Naturena soon, where he will aim to prove his worth and secure a place in the starting XI.

This transfer not only represents a significant investment for Kaizer Chiefs but also highlights the club’s intent to challenge for titles in the upcoming season. Fans will be eager to see how Cross adapts to the pressure and expectations that come with playing for a club of Chiefs’ stature.
