Journey to JAM ‘n JAZZ 2024: A Springtime Celebration of Music and Culture

Embark on a vibrant cultural pilgrimage this spring as JAM ‘nJ AZZ (J’J’) returns for its second annual festival. Set against the stunning backdrop of Meander Estate in Bronkhorstspruit, this two-day event promises a blend of live music, arts, and jazzy fashion on September 14-15, 2024. The estate, perched on a scenic hillside near the N4 freeway, provides the perfect venue for a springtime farm picnic-themed festival celebrating camaraderie and cultural expression.

14 September 2024: A Day of Enchanting Performances The festival kicks off with a stellar lineup of musical acts. Guitar virtuoso Selaelo Selota will mesmerize the audience with his new soulful music from “Out of his PELONG.” Suthukazi Arosi will light up the stage with her jazzy-afro soul fusion in “The Kazi Experience,” featuring new tracks and guest appearances. The Sol Connection, a collaboration between xiTsonga artists Sol Shibambu and Solacecan, will deliver a soulful performance. During the JAM’nJAZZ Sundowner, smooth saxophonist Ola Sax from West Africa will serenade the audience with romantic tunes, offering fresh roses to lucky couples in love.

15 September 2024: Jazz Social Club Culture Exhibition Thobela FM’s Ms Pro will host the Sunday program, weaving through the Jazz Social Club culture exhibition. Tlokwe Sehume will uplift spirits with “Mmino wa thaba.” Mainline Ngobeni and the Badimo Jazz Band will present a special performance with Prince Lengoasa, the prince of Jazz trumpet. More artists and jazz DJs are yet to be announced, promising an exciting lineup.

Competitions and Prizes The Meander Estate, J’J’s venue sponsor, is offering a total of R50,000 in prizes to celebrate the festival’s vibrant culture. The best male and female jazz dancers in the J’J’ Dobol Star Contest will each win R10,000. Best-dressed attendees will receive R5,000 each. The top three supporting social clubs will be awarded R10,000, R6,000, and R4,000 respectively.

The J’J’ HeART Programme J’J’ is committed to fostering growth and sustainability in the cultural and creative sectors through its HeART Programme. The festival is calling on arts patrons to sponsor tickets for youth and aspiring stars from rural areas or economically disadvantaged communities within a 50-kilometer radius of Bronkhorstspruit. These beneficiaries, who may not usually have access to live performances by international artists, will have a unique opportunity to experience the festival.

Looking ahead, the J’J’ HeART Programme envisions a 2025 Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI) Career Expo. This expo aims to empower future CCI entrepreneurs and workers through information sharing, workshops, and skills development, providing a comprehensive approach to career growth in the cultural and creative industries.

This engaging and multifaceted festival promises an unforgettable experience, blending the beauty of springtime with the rich tapestry of jazz, culture, and community spirit. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be part of this extraordinary event. For more information and to buy tickets go to Computicket
