American streamer and YouTube personality IShowSpeed has added a historic first to his rapidly expanding list of viral moments, becoming the first content creator ever to livestream from inside the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.
The milestone moment took place during his ongoing streamathon titled “Speed Does Africa”, where the 20-year-old influencer is travelling across the continent while broadcasting his experiences live to millions of fans around the world.
From bedroom streams to ancient wonders
Born Darren Watkins Jr., IShowSpeed rose to fame through high-energy gaming streams filmed largely from his bedroom. This latest broadcast, however, marked a dramatic leap from internet fame to global cultural history.
His stream opened with a sweeping drone shot of the pyramids, confirming his location before cutting to Speed standing on site, visibly overwhelmed by the moment. “We’re about to make history right now,” he told viewers, moments before entering the Great Pyramid.
Once inside, Speed navigated narrow passageways while accompanied by an archaeologist who explained the historical significance of the structure, offering viewers a rare real-time look into one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Online reaction and viral response
The livestream spread rapidly across social media platforms, drawing praise from fans and fellow creators alike. Many highlighted the scale of the achievement, noting how few creators have been granted access to such protected historical sites, let alone permission to broadcast live.

While other high-profile creators have visited the pyramids, Speed’s achievement stands apart due to the live nature of the broadcast. YouTuber MrBeast, for example, previously spent 100 hours inside the pyramids but did not livestream the experience.
That distinction firmly places IShowSpeed in the record books as the first to broadcast live from inside the Great Pyramid, further cementing his reputation as one of the most daring and unconventional streamers of his generation.
Africa streamathon continues
The pyramid stream follows widely viewed broadcasts from Angola, where Speed immersed himself in local culture, music and daily life. His Africa tour has been framed as both entertainment and exploration, blending spectacle with cultural exposure in a format rarely attempted at this scale.
