The Renault Triber has received a facelift, and it’s on its way to South Africa. The refreshed 7-seater MPV, which remains one of the most budget-friendly people movers on the market, will officially arrive in Q4 of 2025, according to Renault South Africa.
The update was first unveiled in India — where the Triber is manufactured — and while the upgrades are largely aesthetic, they give the vehicle a fresher and more modern appeal.
Exterior Refresh: Subtle But Stylish
The most noticeable design changes occur at the front. The 2025 Triber now features:
- A new gloss-black grille, showcasing Renault’s modernised diamond logo.
- Updated headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights.
- A revised front bumper, giving the MPV a slightly more aggressive stance.
From the side and rear, changes are minimal but effective. Notable tweaks include:
- Black trim connecting the taillights.
- Repositioned “Triber” badge below the number plate.
- New alloy wheel designs.
- Introduction of three new paint options in India: Amber Terracotta, Shadow Grey, and Zanskar Blue.
Interior: Modest Upgrades for a Familiar Cabin
Inside, Renault has opted for refinement rather than revolution. The facelifted Triber gets:
- Updated seat upholstery in a black-and-grey colour scheme.
- Slight dashboard design tweaks for improved ergonomics.
- A new digital instrument cluster for added tech appeal.
- Additional available features such as a 360-degree camera system and ambient lighting (India-spec).
Powertrain: No Changes Under the Hood
Despite the visual updates, the Triber retains its tried-and-tested powertrain. That means:
- A 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine.
- Output: 52 kW and 96 Nm.
- Transmission: 5-speed manual or 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).
- Power is sent to the front wheels.
While the lack of mechanical upgrades may disappoint some, this setup has proven reliable and economical in the South African market.
South African Market: Strong Sales and Unmatched Value
Since its local debut in February 2020, the Renault Triber has carved out a solid space in the budget MPV segment. It currently remains South Africa’s most affordable 7-seater MPV, with pricing (as of July 2025) ranging from:
- R228,999 to R264,999
(Includes 6 derivatives, including a panel van under the “Express” badge)
In 2024, 4,248 units were sold locally, making it the third-best-selling Renault in SA, trailing only the Indian-built Kiger and Kwid. In the first half of 2025 alone, another 1,913 units were registered — a testament to its ongoing appeal among price-conscious families and fleet buyers.
What’s Next?
Renault South Africa has confirmed that the facelifted Triber will arrive in the final quarter of 2025. While final local specs and features may differ from the Indian version, the overall design updates are expected to carry through.
Expect more details closer to launch, including trim breakdowns, optional features, and final pricing. But one thing’s for sure — the Triber remains one of the best value-for-money 7-seaters in the country.
