Former Miss South Africa Claudia Henkel has set the record straight after her name surfaced in a legal case involving her ex-husband, businessman Orin Roesstorff, who is facing a partial sequestration over an alleged R3 million debt.
Henkel was reportedly named in the lawsuit due to an administrative error by the Department of Home Affairs, which incorrectly reflected that she was still legally married to Roesstorff. The beauty queen was crowned Miss South Africa in 2004.
Henkel Clarifies Legal Status
In a statement shared on her social media platforms, Henkel distanced herself from the matter, saying she has no involvement in her former husband’s financial or legal challenges.
Roesstorff is facing a partial sequestration application brought by investment company Linea Investments, which is seeking to recover approximately R3 million in outstanding debts. Due to the Home Affairs error, the application initially sought to place Henkel’s assets under the control of a court-appointed trustee.
Henkel confirmed that her divorce from Roesstorff was finalised in 2023 and that the inclusion of her name in the court documents was incorrect.
Porsche Cayenne Raises Questions
Media scrutiny intensified after questions were raised about a luxury vehicle — a Porsche Cayenne valued at around R2 million — that was temporarily associated with Henkel.
She clarified that the vehicle belonged to a man she dated after her divorce and was provisionally given to her during their relationship. Once the relationship ended, she said the vehicle was returned to its owner.
“I would prefer not to be drawn into issues my ex-husband faces,” Henkel said. “What happened between Orin and I during our marriage is also a thing of the past, and I am moving on with my life.”
She added: “I was once a beauty queen, which was newsworthy for a while. But that was a long time ago. Today I am just a single mom to two young children that I adore and want to protect.”
Marriage, Separation and Public Breakups
Henkel and Roesstorff met in 2011 and married in 2015 in a high-profile ceremony. Their relationship began to deteriorate after the birth of their twins — a boy and a girl — in 2018.
In February 2019, the couple announced their separation, with Henkel later saying they had “drifted apart.”
Following the split, Roesstorff went public with his relationship with Chloe Frampton. In 2020, the pair shared images of what appeared to be a wedding ceremony, later stating it was a “commitment ceremony.”
At the time, Henkel was still legally married and said she was shocked by the images.
“I was shocked and upset when I found out. I didn’t know anything about this. He didn’t even invite our kids, although he often tells me how much he misses them,” she said.
Life After Divorce
Henkel’s divorce was finalised in 2023. Months later, she entered a new relationship and announced an engagement during a tropical island getaway. However, the relationship ended shortly thereafter.
She has since focused on raising her children and maintaining a low public profile.
