Ten suspects, including two women, have been arrested after illegal drugs worth more than R22,800 were seized during a series of targeted operations across the City of Ekurhuleni.
The arrests were carried out by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit between Monday, 12 January and Friday, 16 January 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug-related crime.
Drugs seized during EMPD operations
According to police, the suspects — eight men and two women aged between 19 and 55 — were found in possession of a range of illicit substances.
The drugs confiscated included:

Dagga

Crystal meth

Mandrax
The combined estimated street value of the drugs is R22,800.
Charges and court appearances
All ten suspects face charges relating to the possession of and dealing in illicit substances. They were detained at various police stations across Ekurhuleni and are expected to appear in different magistrates’ courts in the coming days.
EMPD issues warning to drug dealers
The EMPD said the arrests form part of its broader strategy to dismantle drug networks operating within the metro. Authorities reiterated their commitment to sustained enforcement operations aimed at reducing drug abuse and associated crimes.
Residents have been urged to work with law enforcement by reporting suspicious behaviour or criminal activity in their communities.
