Donald Trump Injured in Assassination Attempt at Campaign Rally

Former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped a fatal incident at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, sustaining a minor injury while a spectator and the gunman lost their lives.

In a shocking turn of events, former President Donald Trump was injured during an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, approximately 30 miles north of Pittsburgh, as Trump was addressing his supporters. The attack left one spectator and the gunman dead, while two others were critically injured.

The former president was struck by a bullet in his ear but managed to escape major harm. As shots rang out, Trump was seen ducking to the ground amidst the chaos. Secret Service agents swiftly moved to shield him, leading him off the stage to a waiting armored vehicle. Despite his injury, Trump showed defiance by pumping his fist in the air and shouting “fight” as the audience chanted “USA.”

The Secret Service reported that the assailant fired multiple shots from an elevated position outside the rally venue. The attacker, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, a registered Republican, was shot dead by security forces. Footage from the scene revealed a semiautomatic rifle and Crooks’ body on top of a nearby factory building.

In a statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump expressed gratitude for the support and prayers he received, attributing his survival to divine intervention. “Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening,” he wrote.

Trump emphasized the importance of resilience and unity in the face of such adversity. “We will fear not, but instead remain resilient in our faith and defiant in the face of wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed.”

He called for unity and strength, urging Americans to stand together against evil. “In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand united, and show our true character as Americans, remaining strong and determined, and not allowing evil to win. I truly love our country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our great nation this week from Wisconsin.”

As Trump prepares to receive the Republican Party’s formal nomination in Wisconsin, this incident underscores the increasing tensions and dangers in the current political climate. The nation now watches closely as Trump continues his campaign amidst heightened security concerns.
