Annikie Rabohlale, a finalist in the Mrs Earth International South Africa 2024 pageant, is set to represent South Africa on the international stage in the Philippines. The prestigious event, scheduled for December 9 at the SMX Convention Centre in Manila, celebrates women who advocate for children’s welfare, sustainability, and community impact.
A New Challenge with a Purpose
Hailing from Limpopo and now residing in Pretoria, Rabohlale is more than just a beauty queen. At 25, she is a model and holds a BA in Communication Sciences. She is currently pursuing her Honours in International Communications and Media Studies. Her journey into the Mrs Earth competition was sparked by the reigning Mrs Earth International, Kena Chibuye, who encouraged her to take the leap.
“I’ve always been a pageant enthusiast,” Rabohlale shared. “Kena Chibuye inspired me to enter, and I was hooked. I’ve been passionate about community projects since my first pageant in 2016. Joining hands to uplift others has always been my mission.”
Advocacy for Education and Community Impact
Rabohlale’s advocacy focuses on improving South Africa’s educational system by incorporating technological advancements that foster entrepreneurship and job creation. She believes in the power of community-driven initiatives and recently launched a project to donate reusable sanitary towels to a local Children’s Village in Mamelodi.
Preparing for the Global Stage
As the pageant finale approaches, Rabohlale is excited about the challenges and opportunities ahead. “Preparations have been hectic, but I’m thrilled about showcasing my eco-tourism video, eco-friendly dress, national costume, and recycled outfit,” she said. “This will be my first time traveling outside Africa, and I can’t wait to meet the other contestants.”
Changing Perceptions of Beauty
Rabohlale praised Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa, for redefining societal beauty standards. “Mia’s journey shows that living with a disability does not limit your potential. She is an example of excellence and resilience.”
She also expressed sympathy for Chidimma Adetshina, a fellow pageant contestant who faced online trolling. “It’s unfortunate how her journey unfolded. No one deserves such treatment. We must address mistakes with kindness and unity,” Rabohlale emphasized.
Conclusion
Annikie Rabohlale’s journey to the Mrs Earth International stage is more than a personal achievement—it’s a testament to the power of determination, community advocacy, and challenging societal norms. South Africa will be cheering her on as she steps into the global spotlight on December 9, representing not just beauty, but purpose and resilience.
