Jam ‘n Jazz Dobol Star Contest Terms & Conditions

ABOUT

Jam ‘n Jazz (J’J’) Dobol Star contest presents the highest rewards to the fi nest mover and
shaker of an improvised South African jazz dance called DOBOL. The contest forms part of a
broader promotion of the vibrant and unique South African Jazz Social Club
CultureParticipants are video-recorded at various Jazz sessions and then presented to the
public to crown the best Dobol dancer through a public SMS vote.

HOW TO VOTE

Voting is open to the public to choose the best Dobol Star based on the captured video
performance. There is a fi rst prize of R10 000 (ten thousand rands) each for Best
Female J’J’ Dobol Star and Best Male J’J’ Dobol Star. There are no runner-up prizes.
Winners are chosen based on the highest number of SMS votes and will be announced LIVE
at JAM ‘n JAZZ Farm Session on 15 September 2024. Winners will be directly communicated
with to hand over their prizes.

public vote, mover and shaker of an improvised South African jazz dance called DOBOL. The
contest forms part of a broader promotion, through JAM ’n JAZZ, of the vibrant and unique South
African Jazz Social Club Culture. Participants are video-recorded at various Jazz sessions or
auditions and presented to the general public to select, by majority SMS votes, the best DOBOL
STAR in the male and female category. There are no runners up – winners take all in both
categories.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Participation in the J’J’ DOBOL STAR contest.

Only dance participants pre-filmed by JAM’n JAZZ organisers are eligible for entry and
The SMS voting is not for contestants’ entry but for public voting of already selected
participants. There are a few simple rules to follow to enter the competition and they can be accessed by
sending a request email to: webster@live.co.za

1. Only dance participants agreeing to be pre-filmed and entered into the competition are eligible
   to participate in the J’J’ DOBOL STAR contest.
2. Participants must be, at least, over the Age of 21.
3. Participants can only be filmed once, per year, for the purpose of entering the Dobol Star
   Contest.
4. There is no entry fee required from competition participants.
5. External or independently shot videos are not eligible for the competition.
6. The Mind Investments – JAM ’n JAZZ DOBOL STAR organizers hold all the rights to the
   video featuring the participants and participants may not grant permission to commercially use
   the footage prior to consulting with JAM’n JAZZ DOBOL STAR organizers.
7. Competition is open for entry from October to end of June every year.
8. The public SMS voting for participants opens at the beginning of August and closes two days
   before the annual JAM ’n JAZZ festival in mid-September of every year.
9. VOTERS can vote as many times as they wish.
10. Winners are announced on the second or last day of the annual JAM ‘n JAZZ Farm Session .
11. Winners will be directly communicated with for the prize hand over.
12. There are runners up for the competition.
