Big Sean Opens Up About Why He Hasn’t Married Jhené Aiko

In a recent interview, rapper Big Sean discussed his reasons for not marrying long-time girlfriend Jhené Aiko, highlighting their relationship dynamics and the complexities of love. Big Sean, the renowned Detroit rapper, recently opened up about his relationship with singer Jhené Aiko on the “Out of Context” podcast with Charlamagne Tha God. Despite being together on-and-off since 2016, the couple has not yet walked down the aisle. In the candid discussion, Sean addressed the reasons behind their decision to delay marriage and dispelled any rumors of a secret industry marriage.

During the podcast, Sean emphasized the personal nature of their relationship journey. He explained, “It’s a little personal, you know what I mean? But just like to be real with you, just like any people who have dealt with love, we’ve had our ups and downs, you know what I’m saying? And I think it’s still finding the right navigation through it all.”

For Sean, who is 36, marriage represents an ideal form of a relationship, but he believes that the foundation of any strong bond is the relationship itself. He expressed concerns about societal pressures to marry, noting, “I feel like a lot of people get the idea of like, ‘Oh, you have to get married,’ but then it’s like, to me, that’s almost a fear-based way of thinking, too. Because then people be getting divorced. The divorce rate’s so f—king high.”

Sean’s perspective reflects a thoughtful approach to love and commitment. He acknowledged that while marriage is still on the table, he feels that more work is needed to ensure a lasting relationship. “I feel I can only speak for myself that there needs to be more work done so we could keep going,” he shared.

The couple’s relationship has been closely followed by fans since they began dating in 2016, shortly after Jhené’s divorce from producer Polo da Genius. In November 2022, they welcomed their son, Noah, further solidifying their bond. Jhené also has a 15-year-old daughter, Namiko, from a previous relationship with singer O’Ryan.

Big Sean’s reflections on love and commitment offer a glimpse into the realities of maintaining a high-profile relationship in the public eye. His honesty about the complexities and pressures of such a relationship is both relatable and insightful, shedding light on the importance of building a solid foundation before taking the next step.
