Simone Biles’ Birth Mother Seeks Forgiveness for Past Abandonment

Shanon Biles, the biological mother of world-renowned gymnast Simone Biles, has made a heartfelt plea for forgiveness from her daughter. Struggling with drug and alcohol addictions during Simone’s early years, Shanon made the difficult decision to give up her daughters, Simone and her younger sister Adria, to their grandparents. Now, as she reflects on her past, Shanon hopes to rebuild her relationship with Simone.

In an emotional interview with the Daily Mail, Shanon, now 52, expressed her desire to reconnect with Simone. “I would like to make amends with Simone personally—I’m just waiting for her and Adria,” she shared. Shanon acknowledged the distance between her and Simone, noting that she communicates more with Adria. However, she remains hopeful for a chance to reconcile with her eldest daughter.

“Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward. I’m waiting for the opportunity but I’m waiting on her to be able to come to me. Let’s sit down. I just have to be patient,” Shanon stated, emphasizing her willingness to heal the wounds of the past.

Shanon’s desire for forgiveness and reconciliation comes in the wake of Simone’s remarkable performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she secured four medals—three gold and one silver—bringing her career total to 11 Olympic medals. Despite the physical distance between them, Shanon remains deeply connected to her daughter’s achievements, even gathering friends and neighbors to watch the games in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

Reflecting on their strained relationship, Shanon revealed that she often hears updates about Simone through her father, Ron Biles, who, along with his wife Nellie, adopted Simone and Adria. “What I hear about Simone I hear through my dad. I speak to my dad all the time. We’re good now. It was just his birthday, and I called to wish him happy birthday,” Shanon shared. “If I need to know anything I call my dad. I ask him about Simone, and he keeps me posted.”

Shanon Biles’ story is a poignant reminder of the complexities of family relationships and the enduring hope for reconciliation. As she waits for the chance to reconnect with her daughter, she continues to hold onto the hope that one day, Simone will find it in her heart to forgive.
