Premier Soccer League (PSL) General Manager Andile ‘Ace’ Ncobo and his wife Salome have been charged with fraud and money laundering involving a R15 million school infrastructure donation. The pair appeared briefly in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 2 May 2025.
The charges stem from a 2008 Corporate Social Investment (CSI) donation by PetroSA, intended for the rebuilding of Gangatha Junior Secondary School in the Eastern Cape. According to prosecutors, the Ncobos allegedly misrepresented themselves to access the funds and laundered the proceeds through personal and unregistered entities.
Alleged Scheme Uncovered
Investigators allege that the couple falsely presented themselves as project managers through the unregistered King’s Gangatha Building Trust, which lacked authorization from the school. They allegedly used forged trust deeds and fake donor documentation to secure the donation from PetroSA.
“The trust deed associated with the project was not registered, and the signatures were falsified,” said Warrant Officer Zinzi Hani, spokesperson for the Hawks. “Approximately R13 million was paid into the Gangatha Project’s account—another unregistered entity.”
The funds were allegedly routed through Eseswe Projects, Aldrin Andile Baldwin Ncobo Charity Institute, and Aldrin Andile Baldwin Development ILE PR, some of which were also unregistered, according to NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila.
Court Proceedings and Bail
The couple was granted bail, with Ace Ncobo released on R50,000 and Salome Ncobo on R30,000. The court postponed the matter to 29 May 2025 to allow for further investigation.
Ncobo Responds: “Malicious Prosecution”
In a Facebook statement, Ncobo denied any wrongdoing, calling the charges a “malicious prosecution.” He insisted that the school was completed successfully and remains a valuable community asset.
“We have never been involved in any criminal conduct. All projects we managed were completed on time and to the highest standards,” Ncobo stated.
