Miss South Africa Mia Le Roux has unveiled a transformative education initiative in collaboration with B4i Academy, aimed at empowering South Africa’s disabled communities, particularly the estimated four million deaf individuals in the country.
As part of the Mia Le Roux Movement, the initiative will provide accredited training and learnership programs, focusing on skills development and economic inclusion.
A Vision for Inclusive Education
Speaking about the collaboration, Le Roux expressed her deep commitment to fostering inclusivity:
“I am honoured to partner with the B4i Academy to make a difference in the lives of those who often face significant barriers. This initiative is a step towards a more inclusive society where everyone, regardless of their abilities, has access to opportunities that allow them to succeed.”
Through this program, Le Roux aims to break down the barriers faced by disabled individuals, particularly in education and employment.
“Our purpose is to change lives, offering pathways to dignity, independence, and economic participation for those who often face obstacles in accessing these opportunities,” she added.
A Successful Pilot Programme Paving the Way
The pilot phase of this initiative was launched in October 2022, facilitating 120 learnerships. This success was made possible through a significant investment from Group Elephant, a company known for its dedication to social impact in South Africa.
B4i Academy’s Commitment to Education & Empowerment
B4i Academy CEO Yolandi Venter highlighted the importance of this partnership:
“Group Elephant is a visionary company committed to the upliftment of people in South Africa. Their investment enables the first project of this impactful collaboration.”
“At the B4i Academy, we believe in the transformative power of education to unlock potential and create opportunities for all. Our collaboration with Mia signifies our steadfast commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.”
